Upgrade your tone
Feel free to upgrade your guitar amp tone.
It's well known that you can achieve innovative sounds by upgrading your guitar amp speaker(s), but it's very difficult to choose the best one out of a huge number of available speakers. This section does not introduce a sure and easy way to find the right speaker or a possible combination. It is not possible to cover all combinations of different playing styles, guitars, amps and cabinets. Here, based on the know-how and views possessed by Celestion, we propose a little inspirational idea to find your perfect sound. If you can't find the speaker type or combination you're looking for, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it just means you've never tried it.
Check Point: When replacing with a new speaker, make sure that the speaker's total allowable input (W) is equal to or greater than the amplifier's output.
This is the first step in finding the right speaker. When choosing a new speaker, you will be wondering what to do. But don't worry. Here are some examples to help you enter the world of Celestion. If you do not find what you are looking for, you still have more options.
Due to the high volume of players looking for their own sound in the 1960s, amplifier manufacturers produced durable speakers that matched the excessive sound pressure and reliable speakers of the new musical style of that era. Since then, Celestion has made every effort to create the best speakers. Looking back on those days, those speakers had a special sound. That is the origin of the name Vintage Tone.
Heritage Series G12M
12", 20W, 8Ω / 15Ω
The sound was first used by Jimi Hendrix and became famous, and that sound became a tradition that was handed over to Van Halen later
The 4x12 cabinet was originally created in the 1960s. Before the full-scale PA systems appeared, 4x12 cabinets were connected to high-power amplifiers so that the sound of the guitar amplifier could be heard by a large audience. Today, 4x12 cabinets are synonymous with genres like rock and heavy metal.
G12K-100
12", 100W, 8Ω
The down-tuning sound of Slipknot's Mick Thomson and Deftones' Stephen Carpenter
Typically, high-end boutique amplifiers require speakers with the sound that developers aim for because they are made up of high-performance parts to meet the player's advanced demands. Celestion responds with every possibility to bring life to the image of the specific sound you want.
Heritage Series G12H(75)
12", 30W, 8Ω / 15Ω
Faithful reproduction of the original H magnet speaker around 1968
A-Type
12", 50W, 8Ω / 16Ω
Big lows and calm mids. Sound combining American sound with classic Celestion
Celestion guitar speakers are widely known for their complex and musical distortion characteristics, but sometimes it is desirable to have a clean sound without distortion. The following models are speakers for players who want to play clean and speedy sounds with loud sounds, and want to hear each sound clearly.
Classic Lead 80
12", 80W, 8Ω / 16Ω
Powerful with controlled high frequencies, allowing you to hear each note clearly
G12T-100
12", 100W, 4Ω / 8Ω / 16Ω
Ideal when you want to output only the distortion from the amplifier, equipped with a 2-inch voice coil
G12H-75 Creamback
12", 75W, 8Ω / 16Ω
Faithfully reproduces the tone of the G12H with tight lows and punchy highs with 75W power
For the longest time, the evolution of the amp has been to pursue greater power. However, connecting a modern amplifier to a speaker made in the early 60's could, at worst, cause it to fail. The speakers introduced here are made to reproduce the traditional Celestion sound, with the intention of connecting to a high power amplifier.
G12M-65 Creamback (65-watt)
12", 65W, 8Ω / 16Ω
G12M high power version. Even at high volume, it provides sweet vintage sound unchanged.
G12-50GL Lynchback (50-watt)
12", 50W, 8Ω
It features a balance between traditional and modern sounds
Celestion Cream (90-watt)
12", 90W, 8Ω / 16Ω
High Power Speaker with Elements of Alnico Guitar Speaker
A more recent approach is to combine speakers of different characteristics in order to create a special cocktail-like blended sound. Celestion takes this approach and proposes some combinations here.

In the late 50's, Celestion modified the radio speaker (G12) to create the first guitar speaker. The alnico magnet allows a stronger attack, has the clarity of a bell, and gave birth to guitar amplifiers that you could drive hard, with a unique characteristic. The Blue series is part of the Beatles sound and has been loved by many guitar legends.
The excellent 10-inch speaker has wide directional characteristics and expresses quick response and punchy sound. On smaller stages, it offers clean sound, small size, low cost, and can be overdriven without raising volume.
