What kind of instrument is a wind instrument?

A wind instrument is a generic term for "an instrument that has a tube and shakes the air in it to make a sound." Breath is blown into the instrument and you’ve probably seen them played before.

The origin is said to be the horns, bones of animals and shellfish. A hole was made in the hollow object, the sound was made by blowing breath into it, and it was used for hunting and calling animals for breeding purposes. This evolved with the change of the times, and it became the figure of the present wind instrument using technology such as metal processing.

There are two major types of wind instruments: "brass instruments" and "woodwind instruments". This is not classified as "metal" or "wood" in the material of the instrument. Each is classified according to the mechanism that makes a sound.

Brass instruments - players shake their lips to make a sound. Many beginners first practice using the mouthpiece to make a sound. If you breathe in normally, the breath leaks out as it is, but if you practice tightening and shaking of the lips, you will be able to blow the pitch with "de re mi fa". Thus, in brass instruments, how you use your lips is important. Then, when the sound comes out, insert the mouthpiece into the instrument, and then you will learn the operation of each instrument and you will be able to play a scale.

There are two types of woodwind instruments : one that causes "breath" to shake the "reed" and another that causes the "swirl of air" to shake the breath. For example, the saxophone attaches a thin processed piece of wood called the reed to the mouthpiece. Sound is made when this lead shakes and you can hear the sound from the instrument. The flute is sometimes referred to as an air reed, as the blown breath directly strikes the edge, causing the air to swirl. Have you ever blown air into a glass or plastic bottle to make a sound? The mechanism is similar to this one.
