Ukulele types
When the ukulele is divided by size, there are mainly standard (soprano), concert and tenor types for the smaller ones.
There are many people who start from a compact standard, but a concert type with a stable pitch and a tenor type are also recommended.
Soprano
- Scale is around 345 mm
- It can be easily started and is the most compact type. It is also called the standard type, and it is the type often used as an introduction to the ukulele.
Concert
- Scale is about 380 mm
- The pitch is more stable than the soprano, and it is just the right size for adults to begin with.
Tenor
- Scale is around 430mm
- The pitch can be stabilized more easily and a powerful sound can be obtained. It is recommended for those who want to play solos.
