In television studios and on live stages, it is common to see machines like robots and machines moving from side to side often emitting light. Lighting equipment has advanced year by year, and these are replacing traditional analog lighting with high-tech lighting. This time, let's focus on the typical moving heads & intelligent scanners available among high-tech lighting.
Moving heads have a wide working range allowing light to be emitted in various directions. Compared with intelligent scanners, the irradiation range is wider and dynamic movement is characterized, but the operation speed is slower because the head part is heavy. The intelligent scanner is characterized by speedy movement of light because the mirror attached to the main unit works vertically and horizontally to reflect light. However, the operating range of the mirror is narrower than the moving head, so the illumination range is also narrower.
Also called moving lights, they consist of a head and a base. In addition to light bulbs and LEDs, various effects are mounted on the head, and motors and power supplies that rotate horizontally are in the base. It is a robot-like device that has a mechanism that vertically rotates the head with one or two arms.
Also called mirror scan.
A mirror is attached to the body, and the light is reflected by the mirror and irradiated to the wall etc.
By changing the angle of the mirror to various angles, you can adjust the irradiation position.
Depending on the device, some have Auto mode which moves automatically by set program and Sound Active mode which operates in response to sounds.
Sound Active mode which operates in response to sounds.
Most models support the DMX standard (see DMX for DMX) and are controlled by an external DMX controllers. Because moving heads and intelligent scanners often have multiple effects functions and other functions to control, it is necessary to select a DMX controller with a large number of control channels.
Moving heads and intelligent scanners are available in bulb types such as halogen bulbs and metal halide bulbs, and LED types. The most commonly used product in Sound House is the 250 W metal halide bulb, which is characterized by whiter light when compared to a halogen bulb. For other light sources , please refer to the light source section.
Pan is horizontal movement of X axis, tilt is vertical movement of Y axis. Adjust the irradiation position with these settings.
