What is octave tuning?
Even if the open string is in tune, the pitch may not match if you fret the strings! This is where the octave tuning is not exactly correct. This can be improved by making the open sound of each string and the sound of the 12th fret (octave) the same. This is what is called octave adjustment.
※ Strat screws and other synchronized tremolo types are positive, while those of tune o matic types such as Les Paul often use a minus screw.
Use the tuner to compare the actual sound of the 12th fret and the pitch of the harmonics sound and adjusts it by shifting the position of the bridge saddle.
※ Note: Pick up at the bridge position!!
When the pitch of the actual sound is lower ... Bring the saddle closer to the neck side
When the pitch of the actual sound is higher ... Bring the saddle away the neck side
(the shorter the distance from the the saddle to the position of the 12th fret the higher the sound; the longer the distance, the shorter the lower the sound)
It's easy if you remember the order. If you check each time you change strings, your guitar will maintain a beautiful sound! !
