Cabinet type

Cabinet

There are various types of cabinets, including one speaker unit, two speakers, and four speakers, each with different sound quality and sound pressure. Basically, the smaller the speaker unit, the finer the graininess and the clearer the high region, and the larger the speaker unit, the higher the low range and the higher the volume. In order to gain sound pressure, an amp head with a large output and a style called “three-tiered” that stacks two 4-speaker cabinets is also a staple.

Important point

  • Check the cabinet input tolerance against the amplifier head output.
If you use a cabinet that is smaller than the amplifier's output, the speakers may get blown.
  • Check resistance of amplifier head and cabinet.
If there is a switch on the head side that can change the resistance value, use it according to the resistance value of the cabinet used.
  • Use a speaker cable to connect the amplifier head to the cabinet.
An instrument cable cannot be used because its structure is different. In general, those with phone plugs are used.
  • Use while connected to the cabinet.
If the amplifier head is used alone without being connected to the cabinet, the load on the amplifier will be excessive, resulting in overdrive and head failure.
Keep this in mind as you record directly from the amplifier head to the recording line.
