Bass drum

Hi-hat cymbal

It is "Hi-hat cymbal", two cymbals are set on the same stand. Normally, pressing the pedal with your left foot opens and closes two cymbals. This allows you to adjust only the time you are playing the sound of your own drum set. It also has the role of engraving the beat. The size is most commonly 14 inches.

Crash cymbal  / ride cymbal

Ride cymbals are often used mainly to engrave the rhythm like the hi-hat, and they are also called "top cymbals". Compared to crash cymbals, they are larger and thicker, and the shape of the central part, called the cup, varies. It is a cymbal that is often used in jazz and so on. It is characterized by a dry sound such as "Chinchin, Kankan".
Crash cymbals are mainly used as accenting cymbals and are also called "side cymbals". Smaller and thinner than Ride cymbals, sizes 16 to 18 inches are often used. It is a cymbal that has an impact just by hitting it, but by striking at the same time as the bass drum, a stronger accent can be played.
