Direct injection box. Simply put, it is a device to efficiently send the signal output from the bass to the mixer.

DI effect

When using DI, noise is less likely to occur such as noise generated from connections that are long distances from the bass to the mixer. If you connect the bass directly to the mixer without using DI, noise may occur and the sound may be attenuated.

When DI is used

Mainly used when connecting to a mixer for live or recording. Electric guitars use dynamic microphones to record the sound coming from the amplifier to pick up sound with a sense of air, but in the case of a bass amplifier, it is common to send a signal directly to the mixer using DI.
